The American Dream is
hard at work in the legacy of the Kantor family, whose galleries have
forever changed the face of modern art. First came Paul, who is credited
for discovering Richard Diebenkorn and other such luminaries starting in
the 1950s and for bestowing his birthright on his son, Niels, who
recently moved the current Kantor Gallery to a new location in the heart
of LA. Niels has modeled his new venue after the storied Zero One
Gallery and, like his father, is vaunted for his visionary scoping-out
of the creme de la creme of emerging contemporary artists. The unveiling
of the new Kantor will, true to form, be nothing short of fabulous,
featuring The Art of Punk, with artwork from Raymond Pettibon, Shepard
Fairey, Emek, and others. And so it begins. |
