The Kantor Gallery is pleased to present...
A Decade of Art
After a decade of art, over fifty shows, dozens of
artists, and one move, the Kantor Gallery has established itself as
a cornerstone of contemporary art in Los Angeles. This Saturday
night the Kantor Gallery is pleased to present the best of the past
ten years. The 10th
anniversary show will display various artists that have been
exhibited. From Anthony Ausgang to Jessika Wood, emerging and
established artists will display how they have contributed to
contemporary art and helped shape what the Kantor Gallery is today.
Max Eisenstein fresh off of his sold out exhibit will
be unveiling new paintings of his stylized flowers. David Choe and
Henry Vincent will include works previously seen this past year at
their exhibitions. Yumiko Kayukawya and her distinct “super flat”
manga inspired artwork will be presented as well as her prints
produced due to the overwhelming response to her work.
The show will also feature Nick Walker, a British
artist that emerged from the Bristol ‘Spray Can Art’ scene of the
1980s. His spray paint stencil pieces on paper evoke images of the
punk rock scene. His art has been featured in several movies such as
“Eyes Wide Shut” and “Judge Dredd.” This will be the debut of his
work at a Los Angeles gallery.
Established artists that will be shown include Andy
Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and Kenny Scharf. With
their unique styles and incredible influence on popular culture,
they have helped lay the groundwork for other contemporary artists.
The artists exhibited display a timeless quality in their work
despite the ever-changing climate of the contemporary art world.
Other artists included in the exhibit are Mel Ramos,
Raymond Pettibon, John Scane, Kenton Parker, and others.
A Decade of Art at the Kantor Gallery will open
February 5th with a reception from 6:00 to 9:30pm. Exhibit will run
through April 16th. For more information please call 323-933-6976.
