Artist Biography

Jennie Ottinger received her MFA from Mill College in Oakland, CA. She currently lives and works in San Francisco, CA. Ottinger manages to paint everyday scenes in a way that is both crude and beautiful. Focusing on seemingly mundane snapshots of life, Ottinger deftly uses just a few strokes to convey a character and gives a viewer little more than a glimpse into the world that she sees. Her work is often disturbing in subject matter but managers to convey a dark humor that transcends seemingly grim scenes.
Her first solo show with Kantor Gallery will be in the summer of 2010.
